PUTTING AI INTO PRACTICE: A HANDS-ON BUSINESS SIMULATION WITH INTUITECH

What difference does AI make when you are faced with a complex business problem and the answers are hidden across years of data, emails and operational information?

During Camp 2 of the Leading AI- & Data-Driven Organizations program, led by Krisztián Kurtisz and Dr. László Sabjányi, participants had the opportunity to experience exactly that through a hands-on business simulation developed together with Intuitech.

MEET CORVINA: A VIRTUAL COMPANY WITH VERY REAL BUSINESS PROBLEMS

For the exercise, Intuitech created Corvina, a virtual company selling bags, complete with historical business data, emails and other company information. Corvina was facing two significant issues: declining profits and falling customer satisfaction.

The participants’ task was to uncover what was behind them.

They were divided into four teams, each looking at the company from a different perspective: management, production, back office and customer service. Working with the available information, each team investigated what was happening within the business and where the underlying problems could be found.

THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH AND WITHOUT AI

The exercise began without the support of AI. Faced with a large amount of information, participants quickly experienced how difficult it can be to identify relevant data, make connectionsand find the signals that point towards the root causes.

Then AI entered the process.

With the support of an AI assistant, participants approached the same information in a completely different way. They could navigate the available data more effectively, explore connections across different sources and focus their attention on the insights that mattered most.

The exercise then went one step further: participants were asked to create their own mini AI agents, moving from using AI as an assistant towards exploring how it can be designed to support specific tasks.

EXPERIENCING THE VALUE OF AI FIRSTHAND

The purpose was not simply to demonstrate that AI can make work faster. By approaching the same business problem both with and without AI, participants could experience firsthand how these tools can change the way we work with information, uncover connections and approach complex business situations.

Rather than discussing the potential of AI in theory, the simulation gave participants the opportunity to put it into practice, experiment with it and experience its value in a realistic business setting.

The positive feedback from participants reinforced what made the exercise particularly valuable: the impact of AI becomes much more tangible when you experience the difference it can make in practice.

This hands-on approach is at the heart of the Leading AI- & Data-Driven Organizations program: understanding not only what AI can do, but how it can be applied to real organizational problems.
